Jazz and Beau litterSometimes things do not work out like we planned them. Everything was
done right but Jazz and Beau did not have any pups. We took Jazz to the vet today to confirm by xray that there were none.
It was quite disappointing but the vet did not see anything wrong so we will be trying again. I am sorry for all those who
hoped for a pup. If you would like to be put on the waiting list for the next litter please let me know. I have tried to write
everyone personally but it has been a hectic day. My MIL broke her hip this afternoon so as soon as we got Jazz's xray I headed
off to emergency to handle that problem. The next litter won't be for at least 6 months. We did try Jazz
on the sheep for the first time ever when it was pretty clear this morning that she wasn't pregnant and she did a beautiful
job. We will try our best to get some pups from her. Sometimes these things just happen. Again, I am really sorry. I know
how disappointing this is. If you are not interested in waiting please check out the English Shepherd Club website for litter
listings at http://www.englishshepherd.org/breeders.htm.

New Farm animalsWe finally have our sheep in addition to our goats, geese, ducks, turkeys and chickens. The dogs are getting
more of a chance to actually work around the animals although at this point it is pretty simple while the newer animals are
getting used to us. We have a small flock of Romney and a small Katahdin hair sheep flock also so are looking forward to lambs
next year. Our dogs have always worked around the broilers and laying hens, which can be pretty flighty. We are interested
in how they will do with the larger animals. Beau has shown his protective instincts around both the goats and the
sheep. I will try to record in more detail what he has done on his page. I can say this- I don't worry about going
out in the ram's field with grain for the chickens when I have Beau with me. Beau has spent some nights in the barn guarding
his goslings after we had one badly damaged while in the barn one night. Whatever attacked the poor gosling wasn't able to
more than damage him but we ended up losing him. Once Beau was in the barn all night there were no more attacks.

Jazz was bred to Beau and is due the end of July. Check out her webpage as we build it for more information and pictures.
She is a very sweet dog, went to NY state 4H competition in Rally-o, obedience and showmanship and did very well,
is a great farmdog with loads of sense and loves agility. My daughter Sarah, who just graduated, will be handling Jazz's litter since
she is Jazz's person.

THORThor is growing into a great dog. I wish I could keep him but he needs his own family where he can do the job
he is bred to do. He is so nice. Laid back, easy going around the livestock, loves my grandchildren. He is my husband's favorite
because he is so biddable. At the same time he is athletic, flying over the gates with ease, running around outside so fast
back and forth and yet never knocking down the small kids when stopping for a hug or kiss. He is taller than Beau, a big rangy
dog right now growing so fast it is hard to keep the weight on him. Thor is very collie like, so much so that he looks like
he came out of our farm collie Molly rather than his own mom. Someone is going to get a mint dog to love and a good farm dog
too. Check out his page-I will try to get new pictures in the next couple days.

Good homes turned downWe have been very busy talking to potential puppy buyers. We now have 3 pups available again after we thought
we only had one puppy left. After delays on both the buyers and my part trying to get together over distances, as the pups
developed, I realized that even though these were very nice people, it wasn't the right situation or right timing for
these particular pups and homes. I have talked to many other people that would be excellent homes in the future
or for a different pup. It has been interesting that further confirmation that these are good homes is the patience these
people show when the situation is explained to them. They can understand why a pup from a different litter or just waiting
until my next litter would be the best choice for all concerned. Once again we are searching for the right homes.
We are interviewing people right now and hopefully the pups will find their forever homes soon. Please
check the "available" page to see who is currently for sale.
